The HiPace Cycle Challenge is the kind of comeback story that reminds you setbacks are just poorly labelled detours.

Two years ago, Prince Kaybee was a long-distance runner with no plans to stop. Then a serious motorcycle accident changed everything multiple fractures, four surgeries, and the news that competitive running was likely no longer in the picture.

What came next was not a quiet retreat. The DJ, producer and entrepreneur turned to cycling as part of his rehabilitation, found something unexpected in it  discipline, purpose, momentum and kept going. This June, he went all the way: from Midrand to Durban South Beach over three consecutive days, covering more than 600 kilometres across Gauteng, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal as part of the inaugural HiPace Cycle Challenge Presented by Prince Kaybee.

The route, which took place from 13 to 15 June, passed through Bethlehem, climbed the Drakensberg via Oliviershoek Pass, and followed the iconic Amashova cycling corridor into Durban. Each day averaged around 200 kilometres surpassing his personal best of 158 kilometres. A portion of the proceeds went to charity.

"HiPace is bigger than cycling. It's about proving that setbacks don't have to define you." - Prince Kaybee

The challenge has concluded, but its spirit very much hasn't. Follow @PrinceKaybee_SA and @HiPaceSA for what comes next.
