Minions x Spur

Minions x Spur

School holidays just got a whole lot louder, yellow-er, and way more mischievous!

If you love laughing at the yellow, banana-obsessed Minions and are excited about the epic new movie Minions & Monsters, we have the ultimate holiday news for you. Family restaurant, Spur Steak Ranches, has officially teamed up with the movie makers to bring the big screen straight to your dinner table!

What’s the Big Buzz About?

From right now until 31 July 2026, Spur branches all across South Africa are turning into a playground for Minions & Monsters. Since the movie officially hit cinemas on 26 June, the Minions have been looking for a place to hang out, and they chose Spur!

Here is what you can look forward to on your next family dinner night out:

Themed Mystery Meals: Bite into delicious Spur meals inspired by your favourite characters.

Epic Collectables: You can get your hands on limited-edition, super-cool Minions snow globes! But remember, you have to grab them while stocks last before they vanish like one of Gru's secret gadgets.

Ultimate Pre-Movie or Post-Movie Fuel: Heading to the cinema to watch the movie? Stop by Spur right before to get hyped, or head there right after to chat about your favourite funny scenes over a legendary milkshake.

To kick off the fun, five incredibly lucky families won a massive competition and got to go to an exclusive screening party at Montecasino on 28 June. They got to eat a massive Spur lunch, play awesome games, watch the movie, and walked away with loaded goodie bags. Talk about the best school holiday day ever!

Don't Miss Out!

You don't need a secret villain plan to get in on the action. All you have to do is convince your parents, grandparents, or aunts and uncles that cooking is overrated this holiday, head down to your nearest Spur, and ask your waiter about the Minions & Monsters special.

Have a fantastic, banana-filled holiday!

There are certain places in Johannesburg that don't need an introduction. Gillooly's Farm is one of them the sprawling 44-hectare green lung in Bedfordview that has quietly hosted generations of picnics, birdwatchers and Sunday strolls since James Gillooly's land was handed over to the city council back in 1944.

The Palace of the Lost City has spent over three decades building a reputation on legendary architecture, royal-scale hospitality and deeply immersive guest experiences. Its newest addition, Plume Jazz Lounge, which opened its doors on 29 August after six months of development, is a deliberate next step in that story — a dedicated venue built specifically around live jazz, considered dining and curated evening entertainment.

There's a particular kind of Cape Winelands calm that's hard to replicate anywhere else — and for 13 days this September, Hyde Park Corner is giving it a genuine attempt. Babylonstoren in Bloom, running from 2 to 14 September in the centre's Centre Court, marks the celebrated Franschhoek farm's first-ever activation inside a shopping centre, and it's a considerably more ambitious undertaking than a simple pop-up stand.
