Sequels are a risky business. Stray too far from the original and you lose the people who loved it; stay too close and it feels like a rerun. Cape Town rapper Gaffi appears to have found the balance with Big Purrr II: Khoyeke, the follow-up to his 2025 project Big Purrr, which arrives on 2 October.

The original Big Purrr, released on 21 November 2025, has gathered more than three million streams, establishing a sound, a set of collaborations and an identity that the new project sets out to expand. Where the first instalment laid the foundations, Khoyeke builds on them with a carefully chosen line-up of artists drawn from South Africa's evolving hip-hop landscape.

The eight-track EP features K.Keed and Lowfeye, alongside Gaffi's longtime collaborators April Yung and Mido RSA, whose presence offers continuity with the world established on the first project.
