As Women's Month draws to a close, Chiesa di Pazzo Lupi is offering music lovers two very different experiences across the final weekend of August.
Likers of Things

From the immersive, experimental sounds of Synthesis on Saturday, 29 August, to the rich classical and operatic sounds of Nostalgic Reflections on Sunday, 30 August, both events offer an opportunity to enjoy exceptional live music alongside Chiesa di Pazzo Lupi's food offering and distinctive atmosphere.
Whether the preference is an atmospheric Saturday evening or a relaxed Sunday afternoon, Chiesa di Pazzo Lupi provides the setting to gather with friends, enjoy good food and experience live music in an intimate venue.
Synthesis
Date: Saturday, 29 August 2026 Doors open: 16h30 Show starts: 18h00 Tickets: R150 via Quicket Door price: R210
Synthesis brings together an eclectic line-up of artists for an evening that moves across electronic, folk, punk, prog-rock and neo-soul influences.
Singer-songwriter Maria Mombelli creates soft, moody electronic music. Drawing on her classical piano training, she blends melodic piano lines with haunting vocals, layering rich synth textures live to create an immersive electronic performance.
Joining her is vocalist and guitarist Geoffrey Diver, whose original music draws on a wide range of styles, including prog-rock, neo-soul, noise art and various folk traditions. Diver's live-looping performances are built around catchy grooves, soaring vocals and atmospheric textures.
Rounding out the line-up, Klumbsy Oxx performs on handmade DIY instruments alongside special guest Richard Bruynson on slide guitar. Together, they move through an eclectic blend of experimental, folk and punk influences, exploring existential themes and surreal landscapes in a raw, immersive live performance.
Nostalgic Reflections
Date: Sunday, 30 August 2026 Doors open: 12h30 Show starts: 15h00 Tickets: R200 via Quicket Door price: R260
Sunday brings a markedly different musical experience with Nostalgic Reflections, featuring rising South African baritone Luthando Madikizela, whose rich voice and stage presence have earned him recognition in the country's classical and opera scene.
Originally from Bizana in the Eastern Cape, Madikizela's musical journey began in school choirs and vocal competitions before continuing through university, where he refined his artistry under vocal coach Mhlaba Buthelezi of the Tshwane University of Technology.
His career highlights include performing alongside internationally acclaimed soprano Pumeza Matshikiza, placing second in the African Composition category of the Amazwi Omzansi competition, and staging his own concerts at venues including the Roodepoort Theatre, the State Theatre and Tropical Nites Theatre.
In 2026, Madikizela reached a significant career milestone with his opera debut as Gcina in Nkoli: The Vague, following a successful audition process. The production premiered at the University of Johannesburg before touring to a theatre festival in Chemnitz, Germany further establishing him as one of South Africa's notable emerging opera talents.
He will be accompanied by acclaimed pianist Paul Ferreira, whose sensitive musicianship offers a fitting partnership for the performance.
