Sleeping Beauty The Musical is making its African premiere at Peoples Theatre in Johannesburg this November and December the first time the show has been staged on the continent after runs across the UK and America.

A Familiar Tale, Reworked With an all-original score, the musical follows Princess Aurora as she
navigates a childhood curse, a chance meeting with Prince Perrault, and a run-in with the wicked Hellisent all building to the question of whether she or Hellisent will claim the throne of Australis.

From the Writer
"The show has been staged in the UK and across America but it has never been staged in Africa... until now," says Ian Curran, writer and lyricist. He describes the story as suitable for "children from 3 to 103" and hopes it brings "a little bit of magic" to South African families discovering it for the first time.

From the Director
Producer/Director Jill Girard calls it "packed with laughter and magical moments," built for full audience participation “everyone can join in the fun, boys and girls alike." At its core, she says, the show is a reminder that "kindness and love will always prevail."
