Through a partnership with Paramount Pictures South Africa, Zanele got the opportunity to chat to fellow South African star Thuso Mbedu at the New York press day and trailer launch for the highly anticipated film Children of Blood and Bone.

Thuso, who plays the role of Zélie in the film, opened up about what the role means to her, describing herself as honoured, grateful and excited to bring the character to life. She hopes audiences walk away from the film inspired to stand up for what they believe in.

The press day drew a heavyweight guest list, including director and co-writer Gina Prince-Bythewood, who spoke warmly about her collaboration with Thuso, calling her a generational talent. Also in attendance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music were co-stars Regina King, Lashana Lynch and Tosin Cole.

Zanele made sure to bring her own style to the red carpet, wearing a dress by Otiz Seflo, styled by Mr Suave, with hair by Sibahle Siyakhula.

Reflecting on the experience, Zanele said:

"I am so grateful to God for placing me in such spaces to get to work and dream even bigger in. Getting to speak to a fellow South African doing amazing things on a global scale was an honour. I am so excited for everyone to watch the film next year January."

Children of Blood and Bone is set to hit cinemas in January 2027.
