Grammy Award-winning artist, producer, and cultural architect Zakes Bantwini has spent years building a career that extends well beyond music. Now, he's channelling that same energy into something more structured and more lasting. The Zakes Bantwini Foundation officially launched, and its ambition is as clear as it is necessary.

At its core, the Foundation is built on a simple conviction: South Africa is overflowing with talent that too often goes unnurtured. Not for lack of ability, but for lack of access to mentorship, to industry knowledge, to the kind of guidance that turns raw passion into a sustainable creative career.

"South Africa is filled with extraordinary talent," says Bantwini. "The foundation was created to help bridge the gap between passion and opportunity by equipping young people with the tools, knowledge and support needed to thrive in the creative and sports industries."

The Foundation's programmes reflect the breadth of that ambition. EmpowerHER Workshops will focus on developing women in music, sport, and the arts through leadership and entrepreneurship training. The Youth Talent Incubator, operating under Mayonie Productions, will provide structured mentorship for emerging artists and athletes. The Business of Music Summit will demystify the industry's commercial side, covering publishing, distribution, marketing, and monetisation. A Creative Arts Festival will celebrate local talent through live performances, exhibitions, and international networking. The Sports Leadership Academy and Digital Media Training will equip young South Africans with the branding and digital skills that modern creative careers demand.

Together, these programmes represent something quietly revolutionary: a framework for turning cultural wealth into economic opportunity, built by someone who understands both from the inside.

The Foundation welcomes sponsorships, partnerships, and donations from those who share its vision for the next generation of South African innovators.
