Summer starts at Power, and a R50,000 family holiday is on the line

Power Fashion launches a road trip and a prize draw for its summer campaign.

If there is a season South Africans wait for all year, it is summer, and Power Fashion has decided to mark its arrival with a thank-you. The national value retailer has launched its Summer Starts At Power campaign across South Africa and Eswatini, showcasing what it calls the umswenko customers can find in more than 300 stores.

The brand has history on its side. Power Fashion has been dressing communities for more than 70 years, and describes itself as South Africa's smart value fashion destination, rooted in the heart of local communities. Its identity, the retailer says, is built on representing "impilo yase kasi" in a confident and dignified way through its product offering. The campaign is a chance to celebrate that success, in a fun and colourful way, with the people who have helped the brand grow.

The idea is to give back. A Power Fashion spokesperson explains that the brand has always kept its promise of making looking and feeling good cost less, and that this campaign is about pouring back into customers for all their years of support. They add that while shoppers will be "dripped out in uKotin'" from Power Fashion this summer, the retailer wants them to do it even bigger because there is a lot being given away.

There are two main pieces to the giveaway. First is the Road Trip activation, which will travel the country for eight weeks. Customers in their own communities can visit the activation area and stand a chance of winning spot prizes such as shopping vouchers and merchandise.

The bigger prize is the family holiday. Between October and December, every in-store purchase enters the customer into a draw, and one lucky shopper will win a holiday for the family valued at R50,000. For those who want to improve their odds, there are extra entries on offer: simply take a photo of your #PowerOOTD and tag @powerfashion on social media. Customers can also earn more chances by shopping the upcoming Black Friday deals.

That social element is deliberately family-friendly. The campaign expects to see everything from single-fit outfit-of-the-day posts to coordinated family looks, all in the running for that holiday. As the closing quote in the release puts it, "Summer starts at power" is about providing the lowest prices, easy accessibility and memorable experiences for every South African, regardless of budget.

For shoppers, the practical details are straightforward: buy in store between October and December, post your look with the hashtag, tag the brand, and watch for the road trip stopping in your area. It is a campaign that pairs everyday budgets with a very summery reward, and the family holiday prize is certainly worth a few outfit photos.
