Sony’s ULT POWER SOUND Series Turns Up the Bass in Mzansi

Summer in South Africa does not merely arrive it announces itself through rhythm, outdoor gatherings, and an unyielding, communal pulse. Setting the tone for the warmer months ahead, Sony officially unveiled its latest heavy-hitting line-up the ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7, and ULT TOWER 5 at Sandton’s Sourcefin.

Brought together under the banner “Massive Bass. Ultimate Vibe,” media, creators, and culture-shapers gathered to experience the next evolution in high-impact audio engineering.

The timing of the launch serves as a direct nod to South Africa’s commanding presence on the global music stage. With genres like Amapiano, Lekompo, House, and Bacardi continually rewriting international charts, the new ULT range has been engineered precisely to give these bass-heavy, rhythm-driven genres the depth they demand. Featuring dedicated ULT1 and ULT2 sound modes, the speakers deliver deep, resonance-rich low ends without sacrificing vocal clarity.

Highlighting the launch was acclaimed producer and DJ Chronical Deep, unveiled as the range's featured artist. Demonstrating how effortlessly a full set comes together with the ULT lineup, he underscored the practical brilliance built into the design.

"Playing music should feel simple. You plug in, press a button and the sound is there, with no mountain of gear between you and the crowd. What stands out about the ULT range is that Sony has listened to what artists need and built it in, from the DJ inputs to the bass that moves a room."- Chronical Deep, DJ & Producer

The evening also featured an insightful industry panel with DJ/producer Soulfreakah, sound entrepreneur DJ Moja TK, and Murat Gebeceli, Marketing Director at Sony Middle East and Africa, exploring how local rhythms continue to cross borders. Guests put the equipment through its paces testing 360° Party Sound, karaoke inputs, app-controlled lighting, and seamless Auracast™ Party Chain connectivity during a live cypher featuring choreographer Leon Andrew Labuschagne and the Five6seven8 Dance Studio.

Engineered for every scale of celebration, the flagship ULT TOWER MAX stands as a powerhouse for major events, packing three woofers, an upgraded ULT DUCT, four tweeters, and two mid-range speakers behind a splashproof interface. For versatility on the move, the ULT TOWER 7 delivers up to 30 hours of continuous playback, orientation-aware tuning, and IPX4 water resistance. Rounding out the suite, the compact ULT TOWER 5 brings 300W of punchy output, integrated ambient lighting, and quick-charge capability making it the definitive companion for backyard braais and intimate house gatherings.
