The Sepedi drama Skeem Saam just added the ideal guy, however, “Ke noga e iphihlile”, and we are about to sit on the edge of our seats from the 20th of April 2026.

Meet Amandla Dubazane, portrayed by actor Nhlanhla Kunene. Amandla arrives in Turfloop as a man your mother would call "well-put-together", and your gut would call something else entirely. There's nothing erratic about him, no obvious red flags, and he is quiet and steady.

We all know someone like Amandla Dubazane, a pure gent who never raises his voice, a cotton-eater in his tailored suit, with a straight posture and an aura that will shake the room in a good way.

For years, Skeem Saam built a nation of 4.5 million viewers by giving us characters that feel like people we know, and this time around, they're introducing someone you need to keep an eye on.

"Amandla’s character is controlled and self-assured. He's not loud or over the top, but his presence is always felt," Kunene shares. "There's a quiet intensity about him that keeps you watching, and I really enjoyed bringing those layers to life."

And that is the part that should make Skeem Saam fans nervous.

Publicity Manager Yvonne Siphuka said, "Amandla is the kind of character who changes the temperature of every scene he enters. Viewers should expect tension, suspense and a storyline that keeps them on edge."

For Kunene, stepping into this role wasn't about playing evil; it was about giving people what they want and showcasing his acting skills. Playing still while something dangerous moves beneath the surface? That's a skill, and from what we know of this character so far, Kunene has it.

Skeem Saam has always been a mirror reflecting our neighbourhoods, families, ambitions, and the people who lifted us and those who quietly dismantled everything we built. Amandla Dubazane is the latter, and we'll be watching every single weeknight to see exactly how.

Nhlanhla Kunene makes his debut as Amandla Dubazane on Monday, 20 April 2026. Catch Skeem Saam weekdays at 19:30 on SABC 1. Set your reminder. Seriously.

There's a particular kind of confidence that only comes from having done the work. Not the loud, performative kind, but the quiet, grounded assurance of someone who looked at a dream, built it with their hands, and now stands inside it.
