Oskido has never been shy about the lineage of South African dance music, and for the third edition of his Big Day Out he is placing Durban at the centre of the story. DJ Tira and DJ Sox, billed together as Durban's Finest, join DJ Cndo on a 2026 line-up announced on 22 September, alongside confirmation that FNB will partner the festival.

The additions are more than star power. This year's edition pays deliberate homage to Durban's influence on the national sound over the past thirty years, from the kwaito era that first carried the city's rhythms across the country to the productions still filling floors today. The festival's two stages will bring together pioneers, era-defining DJs and the artists who have inherited their momentum, in what the organisers describe as a celebration of where South African music has been, where it stands and where it is heading.

There is a personal note to the occasion. The festival doubles as a celebration of Oskido's birthday, and this year it arrives months after the Presidency conferred on him the Order of Ikhamanga in recognition of his contribution to South African music and culture. The festival, in effect, is the party.

The partnership with FNB brings one of the country's most established financial institutions into the fold. Philani Potwana, CEO of FNB Private Core Banking and Credit Card, drew a line between the festival's honouring of artists whose relevance has endured for decades and the bank's own emphasis on longevity, trusted advice and helping customers build legacies of their own. It is, he said, a way of meeting South Africans in the cultural spaces where they connect and make memories.

Oskido framed it more simply. "Big Day Out has always been about bringing people together through music," he said; this year, with artists from different eras, two stages and a partner to widen the possibilities, that experience goes further.

A final phase of talent is still to be announced. Tickets, in General Admission, VIP and limited premium hospitality tiers, are available through Webtickets and are expected to sell quickly.
