Khetha and Big Zulu "iStep Father" remix

Olefied Khetha's "iStep Father" is about staying. Dedicated to a woman he fell for who happens to be a single mother, it argues that loving her means loving and supporting her child too. Now the song returns in new form: the "iStep Father Remix" with rapper Big Zulu, released on Friday, 2 October 2026.

The original has already reached millions of streams, part of a catalogue topping 20 million all-time streams that includes "Aphiwe" and "Isthombe." Khetha, a singer and songwriter who released his debut EP My Story in Different Colours in 2019 and followed it with Enough in 2021, writes about real-life experience, love and relationships.

Big Zulu, born Siyabonga Nene in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, is known for "Mali Eningi," "Inhlupheko," "Umuzi eSandton" and "Donsa Nkabi," and for acting roles on South African television. His voice and storytelling bring a fresh feel to the track while the original message stays at its centre.

That message is the point. "You are not stupid for being a stepfather," says Khetha. "You simply fell in love with a woman who has a child. There is nothing wrong with that. Be there for her and be the best stepfather you can be." Through the song he hopes more men will change how they see step-fatherhood, as a choice to take responsibility and be a positive presence in a child's life.
