Captain’s Pick: Nando’s Drops Siya Kolisi's Limited-Edition Sauce
If there is one universal truth about South Africans, it’s that nobody Decembers quite like us. As the country shifts into warm end-of-year gatherings, family braais, and long table lunches, Nando’s has just thrown a fresh and surprisingly mild curveball into our national festive menu.
Likers of Things

On Saturday, 31 October, at the grand opening of its bespoke new restaurant in Stellenbosch, the iconic PERi-PERi brand officially unveiled its latest collaborative masterpiece: The Nando's Siya Sauce. Created alongside Springbok captain and national treasure Siya Kolisi, the limited-edition sauce is set to land in Nando’s restaurants nationwide on Tuesday, 3 November 2026.
But before you brace your palate for a full-contact, sweat-inducing heatwave, there is a gentle twist to this tale: turns out the world’s toughest rugby skipper is actually a pretty mild guy.

While Kolisi is renowned for his hard-hitting dominance on the pitch wearing green and gold, his signature sauce takes a far more relaxed approach. Developed step-by-step alongside the captain, the blend boasts rich garlic, bright citrus notes, and a subtle, smoky finish—deliberately crafted so South Africans of all heat tolerances can pour it generously.
"Developing this sauce was so much fun," shared Siya Kolisi during the launch. "Nando’s has that South African spirit, and we got to explore local flavour while connecting with the people behind the process. A few samples later, we landed on something I could eat every day, on pretty much everything. That was the one for me. It’s an incredible honour to have worked on this with Nando’s, and what I’m most excited about now is for people to taste it."
At its heart, the collaboration taps into a simple truth that defines both Kolisi’s journey and South African culture: no success story is ever built alone. Whether in a roaring stadium or around a crowded dining table, there is always a team behind the moment.

In true Nando’s fashiona brand long celebrated for turning its dining rooms into contemporary local art galleries the bottle itself is a collector's item. Pretoria-based illustrator Mpho Boshoga brought his vibrant, street-culture-inspired canvas to the project, delivering a fresh, expressive take on Kolisi’s iconic face.
"Being part of this project is a life-changing opportunity to bring my artistic creativity into a space that's all about culture, community, and a whole lot of flavour," said Boshoga. "Nando's has always had a unique way of bringing art and personality to the table, and this time they saw me. Working alongside Nando's and Siya Kolisi is something I could only ever have dreamt of."
To capture the soul of the campaign, Nando’s gathered a powerhouse roster of Kolisi’s real-life friends for the official commercial. Packed with playful banter, chaotic energy, and relentless laughter, the clip features local favourites including Siv Ngesi, Sobantu Nqayi, Ray Malo, Vafa Naraghi, Nina Hastie, Jam Jam, and Anton Taylor doing what South Africans do best: gathering over a great meal and passing the sauce around.
Jessica Wheeler, Chief Brand and Customer Officer at Nando’s, emphasizes that this drop is all about bringing people together to cap off the year.

"The festive season has a way of bringing us all to the same table, so we wanted to give South Africans something fun to discover when they got there," Wheeler noted. "Siya is someone the whole country can agree on, and the sauce is much the same. It's easy-going, packed with personality, and made to be poured generously. In the spirit of truly celebrating the season generously, we’ve made sure the sauce is available for free in any Nando’s restaurant."
The limited-edition Siya Sauce is available exclusively inside Nando’s restaurants across South Africa while stocks last. Whether drizzled over classic PERi-PERi chicken or tried on something entirely new, one thing is certain: South Africa's festive tables just got a whole lot more soulful.
