With a Basadi In Music Awards nomination for Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year, the broadcaster and MC from Kimberley is having a very good month.

There are radio presenters who fill a slot, and then there are radio presenters who build a world. Boipelo Mooketsi falls firmly in the second category. The 5FM host, broadcaster, MC, digital producer and voice artist has just received a nomination for Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year at the Basadi In Music Awards  recognition that feels less like a surprise and more like an inevitability.

Mooketsi has been building towards this quietly and consistently since 2017, when she started at VOW FM in the Northern Cape and quickly earned herself a weekday daytime show. By 2021, she had made the leap to commercial radio. Today, she hosts 5FM's "5 After Hours" Monday to Thursday from 10PM to 1AM, and serves as digital host and producer on "Vibe Check".

Beyond the studio, she has become one of the country's most sought-after MCs, hosting everything from the Diamonds and Dorings Music Festival to the Connie Chiume Film Festival, where she also served as junior producer. Her voice work has appeared in campaigns for ABSA, Nedbank and Aquafresh, among others.

"Over the past nine years, I have poured a lot of hard work and dedication into growing as a broadcaster… this nomination is a privilege, and I do not take it lightly."- Boipelo Mooketsi

A three-time South African Radio Awards nominee and Radio Personality of the Year winner at the Northern Cape Awards in 2021, Mooketsi is one of those rare talents who is somehow both fully arrived and still just getting started. Vote for her at basadiinmusicawards.co.za/vote/ — voting closes 18 July.

There's a particular kind of confidence that only comes from having done the work. Not the loud, performative kind, but the quiet, grounded assurance of someone who looked at a dream, built it with their hands, and now stands inside it.

If a party leaves you with nothing but a sore head and a handful of blurry photos, it wasn't much of a night. Jägermeister's Haus of Kühl has always understood this,, and this year's edition arrives with even greater intention.
