What To Expect From Ultra 2018
10 January 2018 | Amanda Murimba & Mali Nxumalo
The saying goes, “Go BIG, or Go HOME” and Ultra 2018 promises to smash this year’s event out of the park.
In just less than a month, the biggest electronic music festival hits our shores with plenty to LIKE on this year’s lineup. I mean, how else would you spend your fifth anniversary if you were a music festival? If the past few festivals have been an experience to remember, we are hungry for electric vibrations, the sensational atmosphere and of course the coming together for the love of music. The festival has been around for 20 years and seems to be going strong with various additions to the music genres catering to everyone’s taste buds and dance moves.
“There’s nothing like a music festival. People are ready to have a good time. I don’t think anyone comes to a festival going, ‘I’m gonna be a complete bummer today.” ~ Gary Clark, Jr.
Capetonians and Joburgers can look forward to a feast of music across 3 stages (4 for Joburg) during the 2-day event which starts on the 9th of February.
A major highlight is the addition of world-renowned producer, Eats Everything to the RESISTANCE stage. The UK heavyweight will join the likes of Dubfire and Black Coffee in the mix so you know it’s finna go down.
With headliners Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Axwell ^ Ingrosso and Hardwell promising to keep the decks spinning til you can’t anymore, the only question you need to ask yourself is whether you’ll be in Cape Town or Joburg for this coming February.
Are You Feeling The Ultra Vibrations Yet?
You can also expect our own homegrown heroes including Timo ODV, Sketchy Bongo, Crazy White Boy, Good Luck, Fresh, Euphonik and Shimza to be doing the most and adding their own flair to this thing we love called house music.
We are also definitely excited for the second year of the Until Until stage with an even more banging lineup from Dj Maphorisa to Chuck Tailored and Sho Madjozi. We are already dancing.
So if you are a house music lover, they got you! Trap? Yes, they got that too and every genre in between. This year’s Ultra festival promises to be bigger than ever with exciting partnerships by: SAMSUNG, Redbull Studios, MTV, Skyy vodka, 94.7, OLMECA and Moet & Chandon and Budweiser.
