Splashy Fen: SA’s Friendliest Music Festival

Splashy Fen 2018

7 March 2018

In its 28th year, Splashy Fen, South Africa’s longest-running, and oldest music festival will be jamming from the 29th March for another epic easter weekend. More than just a festival, it encompasses the energy of life, art, music, people and memorable fun.

Aaah the power of red wine… After a few drinks and one great night in 1990, the Splashy Fen Farm became the ideal location for a what is today an internationally recognized, must-attend festival founded by Peter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens. Expecting only a hundred or so fans, the inaugural festival attracted some 400 musicians and festival goers. By 1995, had become the biggest music festival in the country.

Fast forward to 2018 with just under a month to go, with ONLY 7000 tickets made available this year, fans and festival enthusiasts can expect SA’s Friendliest Music Festival to be unforgettable. Over 300 hand-picked artists, across 5 unique stages, over 4 days, have ya’ll booked your tickets yet? Adding to that, and in keeping with Splashy Fen’s self-imposed responsibility to expose, develop and promote local artists, of the 320 musicians that will be performing at Splashy Fen this year, 302 are South African. In addition, the 2018 Splashy Fen will host the largest number of KZN born artists in its 27-year history, with 46% of all musicians hailing from KZN.

“We want everyone who attends Splashy Fen to feel a part of the culture. We are adamant in providing a high-quality experience and a high level of service. Capping the number of available tickets at 7 000 is a commitment that shows we are less interested in ticket sales and more passionate about creating the best possible experience for everyone.” ~ Andrew Van Rensburg, Splashy Fen Creative Director

What To Expect:

The Splashy Bus

Introducing the Splashy Bus, powered by Zeelo. Now you can leave your cars behind and join other party-goers on a carpool of a different kind. The Splashy Bus will collect travelers from two central points, in Durban and Pietermaritzburg, and transport them up to the festival, and return, all for only R300. It also adds to the festivals efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, with fewer people traveling in separate cars. Grab your friends and book a seat now: www.zeelo.co.za/rides.

Pre-Order Drinks

SAY. NO. MORE! Definitely, our recommended MUST DO before the festival. Pre-order your alcohol for collection using the MiTreat App available through the Google Play Store or the Apple iStore. MiTreat App lets fans order and pay for their campsite drink selection before they arrive, and collect the goods on site for the first two days of the festival – hassle free and convenience at its best.

Firestone Karaoke Kombi

2018 will see the Firestone’s Karaoke Kombi take to the road for its first full year of fun and music, stopping off in Underberg for the 2018 Splashy Fen Music Festival. Can you feel our excitement! The activation involves two Kombis converted into mobile karaoke studios. Fittingly, the Brasília kombi is host to the large catalog of old-school songs, while its newer sibling features the best of new school karaoke songs.
